Make-Up Tests

Model for the victim : Cherry Huang

I started practising the gothic lips on Cherry however I thought the lips looked too matte with the whole make up. I think for the final shoot it should be glossy with high shine and thick looking layers resembling blood.

Wispy, long twiggy eyeslashes for an eery look

Model for Bloody Mary : Sophie Chung (myself)

I wanted to create loose crimped pieces all over the hair to give a mad and messy effect. I would like the hair to be bigger and more voluminous for the final shoot. I have brought a section of hair i have selected from the back and brought it forward, twisting and dropping it slightly below my forehead. I thought this looked different from all the traditional gothic hairstyles I have been looking at and it makes the look more contemporary.

The Models

Model for the victim : Cherry Huang

I have chosen Cherry to be my model, mainly because she has the perfect plump and big lips for me to create the poisonous statement lip make up I want especially for that character. She also has the sleek, long black hair I want to feature in her look too.

Model for Bloody Mary : Sophie Chung (myself)

I have chosen myself to play out my famous 'scary face' everyone says they're always scared to see. And I think I can pull off a very sinister look with it with the help of an unnerving make up I am looking forward to try and achieve.

From these images i love the experimentation with the loose crimped hair. Direction and placement of even small sections of the hair over the face can give an impact immediately. It can really add character or the emotion being portrayed in the photo.

Runway

The middle image of the make up for Gareth Pu's collection is most striking and i love the use of exaggerated red eyeshadow creeping up to the brow bone. It's very bold but it works as a statement. I also spotted a subtle tear line coming down from the models eye on the left which is different and makes it stand out from the perfect runway tradition of make up.

The wet and sleek back hair ideas here creates a disturbing aspect of perfection. They also strengthen the focus of the strong make up on every feature of the face. The lips are gothic inspired but instead using contemporary colours and promoted as fashionable.
